I came forward when I saw a news flash pop up on my phone that the USC President was stepping down under scandal, and I realized it was all about Dr. Tyndall and I just knew it was my turn.

  • 00:00 So at USC I was there from '89 to '92, and I was very inexperienced with gynecological care. I went to see Dr. George Tyndall, and I was abused. I didn't even understand the full extent of what had happened to me. I knew some things were very wrong and it was upsetting, and I didn't tell anyone. I wanted to get my law degree and get on with my life.
  • 00:23 You have a gynecologist who's in a position of trust, who a woman should be able to completely trust and listen to. That's backed and endorsed by a huge institution that's been around for a long time. And then to be completely betrayed and abused within that system is very disempowering. I came forward when I saw a news flash pop up on my phone that the USC President was stepping down under scandal, and I realized it was all about Dr. Tyndall and I just knew it was my turn.
  • 00:59 I was interviewing different law firms to figure out who's going to help me through this process. And John Manly called me on the phone. We had a conversation and I knew right then and there that this was it. This was the guy who was going to protect me. He was going to stand for me. He understood me.
  • 01:30 He had the skills and abilities to do what needed to be done. And he wasn't afraid of USC. I knew during our first conversation that he had helped a bunch of the women that had to stand up and fight against Larry Nassar, Michigan State, USA gymnastics association, all of those agencies. And that's a lot.
  • 01:54 I mean, those are institutions, big institutions, powerful institutions, and he had done a great job helping those women. And so he's proven himself as able and capable and willing to really stand up and not bow down. After talking to several other law firms, I didn't get that feeling from any of them. I'm a lawyer. I'm going to be picky about who's going to represent me, and I know some of what people are up against because of my job. And so I just knew.
